PTE Describe Image - World's Water

Sample response and explanation

The image illustrates the distribution of world’s water. Of around 1.38 billion cubic km total water only 2.5 percent is freshwater and remaining saltwater. Glaciers and permanent snow make up the majority 68.7% of the freshwater, while groundwater is the next big chunk at 30.06%. Ground ice and permafrost, lakes, soil, wetlands, rivers etc. hold the remaining freshwater. In conclusion, one can say that freshwater is very rare.

This is a general image sort of a bar which is divided into parts. You can always start your response by telling the main topic of the image. After that you should speak about 2 or 3 key points and try to draw out any meaningful comparisons or trends. Finally, in the conclusion you can talk about what is your overall takeaway message from the image. It is not always necessary to have a conclusion. Only, if you have time left. On the other hand, you can also use a general conclusion statement if you run out of other things to talk about.
