How to give examples in PTE Write Essay questions

In almost every second PTE Write Essay question you will be asked to provide examples from your own experience. That does not mean you write just about anything. It still has to be something concrete, relevant to the point under consideration and seem authentic. In this video you will learn the correct way of putting examples in your PTE Write Essay responses. The article continues below the video.

The examples are important not only because many questions specifically ask for them, they are also useful because they are an easy way to meet the word limit. So, if you can just make up a good example, you don’t need to worry about writing an extra point.

Begin the example properly

In your writing you should use the correct words at right places. Your word choice should indicate that you know the purpose and importance of using appropriate words. So, when you are about to write an essay, begin with “For instance”, “To illustrate”, etc.

Good example is not always true

PTE is not judging your personal opinions. It is only judging your writing ability. It does not matter if the example you put in your essay is actually from your experience or not, as long as it supports your point. Therefore, don’t limit yourself strictly to events that have happened to you. Instead come up with examples which precisely meet the needs of the essay.

Make it specific to the point

Your example should not be too generic. Make it precise and to the point. For example, instead of saying “One of my friends suffered from pollution in a big city”, you should say “One of my friends working in a big corporation in the city suffered from a lung disease due to high level of vehicular pollution in the city.” The second example is much more specific and contains good information.

When you try out some PTE Write Essay practice questions you will be able to put all of these suggestions into practice and also see them being used in the sample responses.

Do not take examples lightly just because the question stipulates they can be from your own experience. Even when writing something from your own experience, it has to be presented in the best manner possible. Follow these three simple suggestions and you will get the most out of examples in your essays.
